Nearby Galaxies Observations
Using the visible data towards nearby spiral galaxies from the Hubble Space Telescope, we have developed a new dust-extinction technique to reconstruct high-resolution (sub-arsecond!) surface density maps of the dust (and gas) distributions across entire galaxies. This technique was orginally developed for M51 as a proof of concept (in Faustino Vieira et al. 2023, 2024), and is now being extended to other nearby face-on spirals and compared to the JWST embedded clusters and PAH emission, in collaboration with the FEAST team.
Below you can find the currently released data products for nearby galaxies observations, from the FFOGG project. If you make use of any of these, please make sure you refer to the respective publication, and mention this website in your acknowledgements. Should you require any other data/information from our published work that you cannot find here, please get in touch with us and we will do our best to provide those.
